Dear Students:
You did it! Congratulations for finishing this trimester in remote learning format. That was new for almost everyone and if you completed the assignments, you can give yourself a pat on the back now. Well done! The last thing we have to do is check on your progress in Typing Club. Please go back into Google Classroom and look at the assignment. You are given 10 tries on the test; the test is open for the next two weeks, so spread it out if you do not immediately pass. When you pass, you are given a certificate! Typing Club is open for you all summer as well, should you decide to continue your practice and become a fiery typist. When you are done, you can always continue on the Tynker lessons in Google Classroom to learn more coding skills. Shoot me an email if you are interested in more advanced Tynker lessons. Also, please check IC and make sure you have nothing missing from before we began Remote Learning. Thank you and have a fantastic summer. I hope to see you all in person in August. Let's keep our fingers crossed and stay healthy. Miss you, Ms. Rita Stephenson

Dear Students:
A lot of you enjoy fun coding projects. I therefore assigned to you a course in Tynker called Dragon Spells: you will train a dragon to collect treasure. You go into Google classroom, click on lesson 1: Dragon Eggs (scroll down in Google Classroom) and begin coding. If you enjoy this activity you can move up through all lessons one through ten. By the end of this course, you can write simple algorithms using loops, conditionals, functions, and variables and know how to debug your code. Please watch this VIDEO first! And 30 min. typing club. Have fun! Ms. Stephenson It is Mother's Day Week and you will have the opportunity to create a digital Mother's Day card in Google Drawing.
Go to Google Classroom, watch the video and get creative. Second Graders, if you can put in text, an image and a new background that would be fabulous. Third Graders, you can probably do all of the above plus add shadows, borders, maybe even a video. Fourth Graders, on top of doing all of the above, think about adding hyperlinks and audio. And if this assignment is too easy for you, then opt for the other assignment which requires you to code a Mad Libs card in Tynker. Have fun!!! and celebrate your moms, Miss Stephenson Dear third graders:
It seems like a lot of you go straight into Google Classroom without reading my blog first. Many of you did not complete the second part of last week's assignment, in which you were instructed to add images and improve the layout of your slides. I reposted the same assignment this week and called it "Adding Images to Slideshow". I will also add a short clip instructing you how to apply the same transition to all slides. Please make sure you turn in the finished product by Friday. Thank you. And of course, please continue with keyboarding practice in typing club for a minimum of 30 min. this week. Sending you lots of hugs and greetings, Ms. Stephenson Hello Third graders:
Welcome back to part 2 of our Google slideshow. I enjoyed looking at your work and I returned it with some comments. Please go back into your Google Classroom, open the assignment "My First Google Slideshow", read the objectives part 2 and watch the video part 2. Please be aware that the video is rather long, but I will give you one extra week to finish it. Watch one part, complete the work, continue watching, etc. In addition continue with half an hour of typing (minimum; please practice 3x10 min, which is better than 1 x 30 minutes) This assignment is for two weeks, do not stress, give it your best. But have fun! Have a great week, I miss you! Ms. Stephenson Dear Third graders:
Welcome back. I hope you are all doing well. For each special class you are required to work 1 hour / week. In computers, we will split that up into: 1. half an hour of typing (minimum; please practice 3x10 min, which is better than 1 x 30 minutes) 2. create a Google presentation: Go to Resources and login to Google Classroom. All the instructions will be there. Watch the video! If you have any questions after watching the complete video, please send me a private comment in the assignment. Have a great week, I miss you! Ms. Stephenson Dear Third Graders:
Our main goal for the rest of this trimester is to practice 10-finger keyboarding, learn Google presentations and keyboard shortcuts. We are lucky that we are already working in Google classroom, so that will make it easy. All I am asking you to do for this week is: 1. practice Typing club 2 x 15 min. 2. login to Google Classroom and answer the question "How do you feel about remote learning?" Please respond to two classmates. Click on the tab "Resources" on top of this page and login with your email address [email protected] and your password. Until next week! Ms. Stephenson |
